Maneuvering In The Monroe County Mess

STROUDSBURG -- The snow stopped in the Poconos around 2 p.m.  Then came the sleet and rain.

Our journey through this latest round of snow started on Route 33 heading north, near the Saylorsburg exit.

Next we merged onto Route 209 outside Stroudsburg towards the Pocono Newsroom in Stroudsburg. That's where we found a guy dusting off his pickup truck.

“If I was smarter, I would have turned around 70 miles ago,” said Robert Syracuse of Brooklyn.

Outside Stroudsburg there was almost two inches on the ground around 11 a. It looked like this area has been plowed.  And the snow was still falling.

Eventually we headed to Main Street in downtown Stroudsburg where people were using their snow throwers to clear the sidewalks.

But when we stopped, we noticed some people chose to walk on the street because most of the sidewalks were buried in inches of snow.

But not everyone had luck traveling on the road.

A tractor-trailer got stuck going up Broad Street in Stroudsburg until a kind neighbor with a plow came by to give the truck a little push up the hill.

This father daughter duo from Stroudsburg didn't mind the challenge. Well, one of them, at least.

“We were walking down Main Street. It was really hard. The snow is really tall and thick,” said Ousmani Jallow.

“Right now, I just want to go home, have a cup of joe, warm up. I'm done,” said Sal Jallow.
