HANOVER TOWNSHIP — Traffic was backed up for miles after two crashes on Interstate 81 in Luzerne County that involved at least four vehicles Monday night.

State police said the wreck started when a tractor trailer and car crashed on I-81 southbound, near the Cross Valley Expressway.

Authorities said as other vehicles came upon that crash, a pickup truck rear-ended another tractor trailer.

State police told Newswatch 16, no one was seriously hurt in either of those crashes.

During the backup, a third tractor trailer also stalled, causing more traffic problems that created a backup that stretched for miles.
