Homicide Charges Filed In Scranton Fire Case

SCRANTON — A man charged with starting a fire the resulted in the death of his father is now charged with homicide.

Detectives said that after psychiatric testing, it was determined that Kevin Brown is competent to stand trial.

Brown is accused of setting a fire that severely injured his father in November 2013.

James Brown died from injuries in the fire in December.

Kevin Brown was arraigned on the new homicide charges and locked up in the Lackawanna County Prison.
