MOOSIC -- Pennsylvania American Water has been working to restore service to thousands in the Scranton area.

To make matters worse, the mayor of Moosic said that there is a person going around the area posing as a water company employee asking to check water pressure and meters.

Around 7 p.m. Saturday three people reported that someone knocked on their door, said they worked for the water company and asked to check the home's water pressure and meters.

The mayor said the homeowners did not let the person in.

The mayor also said he spoke with Pennsylvania America Water, and it is a scam.

"They (Pennsylvania American Water) are not going to people's houses to check their water pressures or meters, so dial 911. Do not let them in your house," said Mayor Jimmy Segilia of Moosic.

Pennsylvania American Water also said all of its employees wear uniforms with the company logo and drive company vehicles.
