BLOOMSBURG -- In the middle of all this extreme cold there’s a place to go this weekend to think of warmer times.

The Early Bird Sports Expo has taken over the buildings at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.

The place was packed on Friday with people dreaming of spring and summer in the outdoors and people trying to cure their cabin fever.

The outdoors have gone indoors at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. It is early to be thinking hunting and fishing and other outdoor fun, but with temperatures outside in the teens expo-goers say it's a nice escape.

"Cabin fever, looking for warmer temperatures, especially the temperatures we've been having, you’ve got to get out and enjoy it,” said Joe Linn of Mount Carmel.

A lot of people said it just felt good to get out of the house. Checking out the many campers helped some think of warm weather trips to come.

Gary Harris had one thing on his mind as he wandered through one.

"Now it makes you homesick for spring and fishing season.  And I'm ready for fishing all the time."

For those who can't wait to fish they could even cast a line here.

Little McKenna Sweeney liked that and the campers.

"I like campers. I always dream of being a camper like my dad does."

"It's too cold, yes, and we just came by the river and saw it's all full of ice and everything right now,” said Pattie Sauerwine of Wapwallopen.

But at the expo, Sauerwine was summer dreamin'.

"Take the grandkids, they can fish off the boat, we can sit in the sun, I can read. Perfect!"

"It seems like they have a great venue here and a lot of people and I think they're doing a great job,” said Jay Foreman of Jersey Shore.

Exhibitors are happy to market to the enthusiastic crowd.  Foreman was promoting Pennsylvania's elk herd.

"We call it Pennsylvania's best kept secret.  so many people don't realize the elk are here in Pennsylvania  and the venue that we have in Benezette."

The Early Bird Expo runs through Sunday at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.

Admission is $6,  kids under 12 are free.
