HARRISBURG -- This is the week people from all over Pennsylvania gather in Harrisburg to celebrate our state's agriculture.

The 98th annual Pennsylvania Farm Show is in full swing.

It is a week set aside to recognize and celebrate Pennsylvania's agriculture.  There are more than 10,000 exhibits at the Farm Show complex in Harrisburg.

Many of those exhibits are run by people from northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

Shade Mountain Winery is near Middleburg.

"It's great that we're able to have this opportunity to be here at the Farm Show because, as a winery and a vineyard, we're a really important part of agriculture,” said Amy Scorsone of Shade Mountain Winery.

The theme of this year's event is “Pennsylvania Farms: Growing For You.”

The Farm Show features fresh produce from farmers all over the state.  Many students from the Future Farmers of America program spent the day at the farm show and took their learning outside the classroom.

“We're able to see it in everyday life and how it's used every day and what we can do with it later on in our futures,” said Olivia Zeitler of Benton.

“Eating a lot, seeing some pretty sculptures and learning about stuff,” said Nowell Covington of Benton.

In addition to all the exhibits, there are close to 6,000 animals competing at the Farm Show, everything from rabbits to ducklings to cattle.

Joyce Carnall of Mount Pleasant Mills in Snyder County brought two of her alpacas from Palace Hill Alpaca farm.

“I'm part of the PA Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association.  We are here to educate the public, not just about the animal itself, but the small farm industry,” Carnall said.

The Pennsylvania Farm show runs through Saturday in Harrisburg.  Admission is free. Parking is $10.  Click here for more information on the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
