From holiday decorations to clothes- jewelry to items for your home. You name it and today you can expect to step into a store in our area and find some sales. As good as 70% off or higher. Shopping gurus say the reason why you might find some better deals in the actual stores is the mere fact that in store sales were actually down this year since Christmas fell mid week. The bottom line?! Businesses have to clear their shelves to make room for new products.

Some people here at home got a jump start on those after Christmas bargains yesterday at the Wyoming valley mall in Luzerne County. The snow didn't stop sale seekers.

People Newswatch 16 talked with said the deals were better yesterday than what they found on black Friday and they didn't even have to wake up in the middle of the night to get them.

For some folks here; they came looking for holiday decorations.

"Wrapping paper was 40% off, so that was a good deal too and then also buy one, get one for a dollar. So, two deals," said Lindsay Jenkins from Shavertown.

A steady stream of shoppers also found at the crossings premium outlets in Tannersville.

Store owners say they were busy throughout the day. Some of the shoppers here came with their gift cards and patience to find the right fit with their new items.

"I like to try stuff on, I don't like to get it and have to return it. It's a hassle, this is more fun. I love to shop, so it's different," said Sharon Valinote from Sciota.

Again, experts point out that by having Christmas fall mid week and dealing with greater competition this year from online retailers, sales in stores just weren't as good this year. But still, most big companies made millions.

While you might find solid sales in stores, the items are quite random as are the sizes. So get ready to hunt for that shirt or pant size because experts say the options could be scarce at some stores.

But don't throw out the whole online shopping deal all together. I just checked out Old Navy, Macy's and Kohls websites and all of them are offering online bargains. Some, even free shipping.

We found JCPenney.com online coupons you can print out today to get extra money off on in store items.
