NANTI HIT AND RUN

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP — Two to four years behind bars for a man who pleaded guilty to killing a 73 year old in a hit and run in 2012 in Luzerne County.

Matthew Perkins of Hunlock Creek pleaded guilty in October to involuntary manslaughter.

Perkins admitted hitting Richard Stadts when the victim was riding his bike on Route 11 in Plymouth Township. Police said Perkins then left the scene.

Stadt’s family was in the courtroom for the sentencing.

“He meant everything to me. He wasn`t really just my uncle. He was like a father. He`s done everything a father would do,” said Joanne Marusak, the victim’s niece.

The victim’s family said he was riding his bike to get groceries when he was hit and killed.
