Fire at the Northumberland County Prison

SUNBURY — Fire crews were called to the scene of a fire at the Northumberland County prison.

A large number of fire and emergency vehicles outside the prison on North Second Street.

Fire officials at the scene told Newswatch 16 prisoners had to be moved to a separate wing of the building.

Authorities said a small fire caused minor damage inside.

There are no reports of any injuries.

The state police fire marshal is expected back on scene Monday to determine a cause.

    That prison is worth more as charred ruins that it is fully functional. I’m sure the commissioners had their fingers crossed it would burn to the ground.
