SHAMOKIN -- A new home for struggling moms is opening in Northumberland County.

An open house was held today at Pinnacle Place on West Lynn Street near Shamokin. The group home is for pregnant women and mothers between 18 and 22.

Management tells us women can live there for 6 to 18 months and a "house mother" will help them with school, work and becoming self-sufficient.

"If they don't have support right now, trying to get them the resources and support that they need so they can take care of their children successfully and run their own households," said Elizabeth Hine, the Pinnacle Place House Manager.

The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit was awarded a grant to operate Pinnacle Place.
