OLD FORGE — Suspended Old Forge Police Chief Larry Semenza has resigned.

Newswatch 16 has learned that Semenza handed in his resignation to borough officials Wednesday afternoon.

Last week, Semenza was acquitted of felony sex abuse charges, but found guilty of two misdemeanors for having inappropriate contact with a 15 year old girl.

Because of those convictions, state law says he can no longer be a cop.

It will be up to Old Forge borough officials to decide whether or not to accept the resignation.
