WILKES-BARRE — A man from Luzerne County will spend up to 71 years behind bars for child sex abuse.

Robert Caravella was convicted last year of sexually abusing a boy. It was last December that both Robert Caravella and Carol Hann were convicted of sexually abusing a boy at their home in Plymouth.

In March, Carol Hann was sentenced to 20 to 41 years in prison for rape and other sex abuse charges.

On Monday, Caravella got an even harsher sentence.

In December, a jury ruled that he and Carol Hann abused a boy from the time he was 7 until he was 12.

Caravella will now spend 35 and a half to 71 years behind bars for those crimes.

Police say he first showed the boy pornography when the boy was just 7 years old. He then encouraged the boy to have sex with Carol Hann and Caravella would watch.

Caravella was also accused of sexually assaulting two young girls in 2011.  That was when children and youth workers took the boy from the home in Plymouth.

At their trial last year, Caravella and Hann both took the stand and said the charges were lies.

Caravella is now classified as a sexually violent predator.

The two years that Caravella has already served will count toward his sentence.

Hann is already serving time for her charges.

I’m finally very happy to see these sick, perverted animals got along prison
Sentences from the judge!! I thank this judge for giving them long, long, prison terms and I hope this judge can order the bureau of prisons to send then to the hardest, worst, toughest prison in the state! Finally a judge came through with a harsh sentence because it seams like all the other judges in this state are way to soft on most of these sick perverts, pedifious! I’ve seen many judges basically only hand then very short terms that makes me sick! These men and lady have ruined this young boys life forever and I pray to god he gets excellent counseling, therapy for as long as needed to help this young boy and his future. Hopefully these prison terms will be seen by all the other sex a fenders in this state and give them some fear and to think about not destroying anymore of our children. So again thank you judge and keep up the great work!!!

These people deserve to be punished for what they did, but it amazes me how something like “rape” will carry a big sentence, but murderers can sometimes walk away with a slap on the hand. Can’t fathom our “justice” sometimes.
