WYOMING COUNTY-- Hot weather hit the northeast Wednesday, and people in Wyoming County searched for ways to beat the heat.
Many people worked through the warm temperatures while others escaped to enjoy that last slice of summer.
It’s a steep climb up to the top of Mike Lione’s roof in Tunkhannock. The homeowner says he’s scraping off old paint and putting on a fresh coat, all while battling the last forecasted 90 degree day of the year.
"It's good for the paint, not good for the painter that's for sure, but yeah it's great. I love this global warming,” said Lione.
He’s drinking lots of Gatorade and thankful that half of the roof is partially shaded.
Nearby Dave Mead says he’s keeping up with his yard work, despite the hot weather at his home in Wyoming County.
"It's more like the 4th of July or the middle of July,” said Mead.
He’s been busy with outdoor chores since early this morning.
But it wasn't all work and no play in the heat in Wyoming County. We found plenty of people soaking up that last bit of September sun at Lake Carey.
Traci Rasor and her dog Buddy are having a ball here in the warm waters after Labor Day and say it’s an unexpected but welcome warm up.
"It is but it's great, I love September up here, the lake slows down the weather is beautiful, very nice,” Rasor.
From fishing to paddle boating,residents took full advantage.
But others enjoying a bite to eat behind the Taste Freez in Tunkhannock say they’ve had enough of Mother Nature turning up the heat and hope fall comes rolling in rather soon.
“I like all the climates. I'm ready for some cooler weather than this. This is unusual for this time of year, I'm ready for the 70 degree weather," said Tom Keeney of Meshoppen.
"It's a little warm for me anytime, the mugginess is what bothers me, but guess we'll get by it," said Rodney Mowry of South Auburn.
Forecasts predict fall-like weather should be right around the corner.
