LUZERNE COUNTY — A group of motorcycle riders from our area headed to Washington D.C. Wednesday morning as part of a 9/11 tribute.

About a half dozen bikers began the trip near Wilkes-Barre.

They are part of a larger group called 2 Million Bikers to D.C.

One biker from Luzerne County worked as an EMT for New York City the day of the attacks.

“I’m riding there with all my brothers and sisters here to show that they will never be forgotten and that our servicemen who are fighting and died already for this country will never be forgotten,” said Al Pruden.

According to the group’s Facebook page, tens of thousands of bikers across the country were expected to take part in the ride to Washington.
