Woman Hit With Projectile in Plains

PLAINS — A woman was hit with a projectile Sunday night in Plains.

According to police in Plains, Dorothy Sarnick, 73, was struck in the arm while parking her car at Solomon Plains Junior High School on Abbot Street in Plains a little after 7:00 p.m.

Sarnick was rushed to Geisinger Wyoming Valley where X-rays revealed that Sarnick may have been struck by a bullet from a .22 caliber gun or a pellet from a high-powered pellet gun.

Medical officials say that they will not remove the projectile that struck her.

Some neighbors told police that they heard a loud pop in the area where Sarnick was hit.
