EAST STROUDSBURG -- Police in East Stroudsburg are searching for night-time intruders, burglars who they said have recently crept into homes while people are asleep, stealing their valuables.

No one has been harmed, but investigators said there have been three burglaries and two attempted ones on streets near East Stroudsburg University. The crime spree happened early Friday morning on Stemple and Marguerite Streets and Spangenburg Avenue.

"That's not good, who would want to wake up to someone in your house?" asked Mason Byrne of East Stroudsburg.

"It used to be a street that you could leave everything open and people on this street will literally walk into your house because we're all pretty much family here. It's pretty upsetting," said Kane Todd, who lives on Stemple Street.

Police said the burglars are cutting screens out of windows and in some cases using outdoor furniture to get into homes.

That is how they broke into Logan Baum's East Stroudsburg home.

"When I woke up in the morning to go the gym, I noticed that my money was gone off my island and the screen was cut and there was a chair outside that somebody must have climbed out my window," he said.

Last month, Baum was hailed as a hero.

Police said he and two others broke through the door of a burning home on Analomink Street in East Stroudsburg, saving a man trapped inside.

Now Baum said he is the one who wants help, catching whoever is responsible for the break-in.

"I feel like it's an invasion, you know? I'm definitely angry about it. "

There is now a reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the burglars. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-370-1518. Callers can remain anonymous.

"I don't even care about the possessions, I don't like the fact that they were in my house," said Baum.
