SCRANTON -- The residents at St. Joseph's Center in Scranton and their families have a brand new garden to enjoy.
The grand opening of the therapy garden was held Wednesday afternoon and offers numerous wheelchair accessible amenities, including a tree house and a swinging chair.
The president of St. Joseph's said the garden will give residents an area to get fresh air, sun, and exercise.
"We all love going outside and many of our folks because medically fragile it`s difficult for them to go outside for long periods of time, having this so close to where they live, they can come out here for even a brief time," said Sister Maryalice Jacquinot.
Renovating the garden was a two-year project paid for with a grant. Many of the contractors worked for free.
