PITTSTON TOWNSHIP -- About 30 veterans will have to find another place to go after township officials in Pittston voted down a proposal for a veteran's facility.

A meeting was held Monday evening at the Pittston Township municipal building.

The township's board of supervisors declined to alter zoning laws to allow a national veterans group to renovate a local animal hospital.

The Veteran's Fund Group would have used the building to house 10 senior veterans and 20 veterans in need.

Township officials said changing the zoning laws might open the door for unwanted businesses such as strip clubs and drug clinics in Pittston Township.
