PALMERTON -- More than 1,000 athletes pushed themselves to the limit this weekend in the Pennsylvania Spartan Sprint in Carbon County.

About 1,200 people took part in the event, sponsored by Reebok, held at Blue Mountain Ski Resort near Palmerton on Sunday.

Competitors took part in a timed five-mile course with 19 obstacles.

Newswatch 16's Raegan Medgie was one of those getting down in the mud.

Organizers say they are trying to elevate the event to a sport, and hope to one day see it in the Olympics.
