Man Drowns In Northumberland County

LOCUST GAP — One man is dead after drowning in Northumberland County Thursday night.

The coroner said Benjamin Taus, 24, of West Babylon, New York died after jumping from a rock ledge into a water-filled abandoned stripping pit know as “Big Blue Lake” in Locust Gap.

The accident was reported by the victim’s brother just before three Thursday afternoon. Scuba diving teams recovered Taus’ body around 5 p.m.

The coroner has ruled Taus’ death an accident in Northumberland County.
