DINGMANS FERRY — Four months after a dog was found frail and malnourished at a home in Pike County, its owner has been found guilty of animal cruelty.

Jessica Cortes of Dingmans Ferry was sentenced to five days in jail and must pay $800 in fines.

Back in February her dog named, “Twiggy”  was found starving in the basement of an abandoned home filled with feces in Delaware Township.

Authorities say since the incident, the dog has been improving at a foster home in Pike County.
