Two Double Shootings

Four people were shot Saturday night and Sunday morning in two cities here in our area.

Four people were hurt in two separate shooting incidents.

The first was around 10 p.m. Saturday on West Oak Street in Hazleton.  Police Chief Frank DeAndrea says there was a fight involving several people.  Two were shot.  A 23 year-old woman was found at the scene. A 27-year-old man was discovered about a block away, on West Diamond Avenue. Both victims were flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital. They are listed in critical condition, but their names are not yet available.

Police will not say what led to the shooting. One person was taken in for questioning. So far, he has not been charged.

The chief adds this is not a random act. Everyone involved in the fight and shooting were connected. He would not describe the connection.

The second shooting incident was around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Park Avenue in Wilkes-Barre. Police will say little, only to confirm that two people were shot.  One victim was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.  The other stayed at the scene with a foot injury.

Police in Wilkes-Barre haven't said what led to the early morning shooting.
