WILKES-BARRE -- Dozens of people were forced from their homes after flames broke out at an apartment complex in Wilkes-Barre.

The Wilkes-Barre Fire Chief said it began Monday evening around 6:30 p.m. on Coal Street at an apartment building in the Interfaith Heights Complex.

Authorities with the American Red Cross said five families were not allowed back inside due to smoke and water damage. They are them helping them find a place to stay and providing them with food and infant clothing.

The fire chief says no one was injured.

The cause of the fire in Wilkes-Barre is under investigation.
