SCRANTON — Dominick Manetti came out on top as the Republican candidate in the race for Lackawanna County Sheriff.

Manetti defeated Joseph Albert for the nomination.

Newswatch 16 caught up with Manetti at Café Rinaldi in Old Forge.

“I’ve been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1982. I worked my way up through the ranks, currently the chief deputy for the last 24 years,” Manetti said. “I’m going to continue to work hard for the people of Lackawanna County like I have been for the last 30 years. I’m going to continue to serve the people. I have a great staff, I have a great office with a lot of great people working hard, every single day and I’m going to continue to do that.

Manetti faces Mark McAndrew, the Democratic winner, in the general election in November.
