SCRANTON -- It was black tie and sneakers at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center for the Coaches versus Cancer basketball game.

The event raised money for the American Cancer Society.

There was a free throw contest against NCAA coaches, and several basketballs signed by Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey who was the guest speaker.

Newswatch 16's Jim Coles was the emcee at the event.

Organizers said before the game, the girls and boys basketball teams at all 42 schools in District Two raised $92,000 for Coaches versus Cancer.

Eighty percent of that money will stay in northeastern Pennsylvania to help cancer patients in our area.
