DUNMORE — Veterans were honored for their service to our country in Lackawanna County.

A ceremony was held at noon at the tank memorial at the intersection of Blakely and Cherry Streets in Dunmore.

Several received recognition in honor of their service, including Joseph Gambo who fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Gambo was a prisoner of war for six months in Germany before being freed at the end of World War II.

After the ceremony, veterans were treated to a cookout at the Dunmore Community Center.
