LEHIGHTON — The 25th annual Senior Citizen Olympics are underway in Carbon County.

One of the events on Wednesday was basketball at the Lehighton Recreation Center.

Organizers tell us about 200 people signed up for the event.

They’re competing in a variety of games including darts, pool, mini-golf and bingo.

We talked to one woman who has been competing for 18 years.

“I got a gold medal in basketball. Sometimes I get a bronze in this. I got a bronze medal in shuffle board,” laughed Millie Hofmann of Jim Thorpe. “I’ve got a good arm.”

Carbon County residents 60 and older are eligible to compete in the Senior Olympics

The event wraps up with a banquet next week.
