UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP -- When you think of animals on Easter, you think of bunnies, chicks, and of course lambs.

A family farm in Northumberland County saw some new additions on Easter Sunday. Three lambs were born!

The owners of Owens Farm say babies are born almost everyday during February and March, and Easter was no exception. Caroline Owens and her family were getting ready for church on Easter Sunday.

"And then I thought I should check the barn one last time before we leave because we're going to be gone a couple of hours. Not only was there a new lamb born, but he was in trouble," Caroline said.

Owens says this baby needed to be fed and warmed immediately or he would not have made it. Hours later, the family got another surprise. Actually, two more surprises!

"These guys were born with no trouble at all. We had some Easter twins as well," Caroline said.

The owners say it is lamb season at their farm near Sunbury.

"This is my favorite time of the year. They're all running around and they are adorable to watch," Melissa Owens said.

Since February, 127 lambs were born at Owens Farm. The family expects around 30 more babies to be born in the next week or so. All of these ewes are about to give birth.

"We'll do a midnight barn check and then sometime between midnight and 4am we'll start to see the lambs come out. They're born early in the morning, most of the lambs we have," David Owens said.

The family says even though their Easter did not go as planned, it was one to remember.

"We didn't make it to church but all the lambs are healthy," Melissa said.

There will be more babies soon. The family believes "Princess" is in labor with triplets!
