DRUMS -- The Stage Coach Inn is the restaurant where people have come to eat since 1947. It's where the Oscar-winning actor, Jack Palance, who used to live nearby, passed the time. Now it's deserted.

Kevin McDonald has run Damenti's Restaurant down the street along Route 309 for the past 35 years.

"In the old days, that's where the horses would stop and they'd refresh and spend the night. I don't know what was there then. But then it became the stage coach, and it's been there forever," said Kevin McDonald, Damenti's Restaurant owner.

But no stage coaches or people will be stopping at the historic restaurant for a while. It's now up for sale. Thomas Bell owns the Bell Tower Cafe next door.

"It's really sad. I mean the stage coach has been around a long time. Mr. Deets and the Deets family has been a staple in Mountain Top, Drums, in Pennsylvania," said Thomas Bell, Bell Tower Cafe owner.

Bell said he noticed the restaurant was no longer doing business in November.

"Most of them you actually see them circle around the parking lot and then leave," said Bell.

Even though Bell and McDonald both have nearby restaurants of their own. They said they'd like to see the Stage Coach restored with another restaurant inside.

"It'd be nice if it fired back up. Hopefully Ed could get it back up and running and continue the way things were," said McDonald.

That way, people would continue to have a reason to visit the historic site.
