Whether you like to gamble or just need a little getaway, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs has rolled the dice on an entirely new project: a $50 million dollar hotel! It also means the creation of nearly 300 jobs with a mix of full and part-time positions.  Hiring is expected to start around June.

"We`ll have positions in convention sales, front desk supervisors, reservation center, positions throughout all areas of the hotel," said "Maria Zangardi, the Mohegan Sun Human Resources Director.

Ground breaking for the massive hotel project in Luzerne County took place in the summer.  It`s expected to wrap up by the end of December.  Despite the winter weather. Mohegan Sun management said everything is on schedule!

"We have a great construction team here. They accommodate for the weather. If they lose a day. They pick it up on another day," said Mohegan Sun CEO Mike Bean.

Bean gave Newswatch 16 at a tour of the construction site. The finished product should be a state of the art, high tech hotel with 238 guest rooms, a bistro, swimming pool, and fitness center.

Also, a convention center that`ll be just a bit bigger than an NHL hockey rink to host weddings, meetings, and concerts.  Hiring for the convention center could start months before the other positions.

"There are positions in sales for the hotel and the convention center that`ll obviously be filled first because we`re going to want to book the hotel early," said Zangardi. "We`re looking for fun, friendly, and enthusiastic people to join."
