BRODHEADSVILLE -- After 40 years, a business in the Poconos is expanding. Dunkelberger's Sports Outfitters in Stroudsburg is opening a larger store in Brodheadsville.

The new location is on track to open this May.

For 40 years Dunkelberger's has been selling all sorts of equipment for the outdoorsman or woman, for the hunter, the angler, and everything in between.

Adam Ciliberti shops there for his supplies.

"Sights, cleaning supplies, gun-cleaning supplies, stuff like that, just the usual things,” said Ciliberti.

Living in Saylorsburg, Ciliberti and will soon live closer to Dunkelberger's.

At the store on Main Street in downtown Stroudsburg, there really isn't much more room to grow, so they're adding another location in Brodheadsville. It will be three times the size of the location in downtown Stroudsburg. That means more items will be sold and also much larger items as well.

"We're going to be able to carry a lot more product that we can't fit in the other store. Side by side hunting carts are one of the products a lot of people are waiting for,” said Roy Horton of Dunkleberger’s.

Work is well underway at Dunkelberger's second location. It's just off Route 209 in the former Kinley's Shop Rite, which moved just down the road.

All of the renovation is being done by local contractors, including Jason Cobb Construction of East Stroudsburg.

"All that revenue they create for the local contractors stays right here in our community. So if you're hiring local, the money is staying here. It's going back into the tax revenue. It's helping our local businesses. It’s a good thing,” said Cobb.

Dunkelberger's plans to hire about 50 people to work at the store in Brodheadsville.

The place is expected to open May 1, 2013.
