TOWANDA -- There has been a large outpouring of support for a Towanda family that lost everything in a fire and worst of all, a 2-year-old son and brother who did not survive.

John David Yoder, III never made it out of his bed when fire destroyed the family home on North Fourth Street late Friday night, said Bradford County Coroner Thomas Carman.

His mother, father and 10-month-old brother did escape.

Investigators are still looking for what caused the fire.

A stuffed animal and flowers were left outside the home to remember the young boy they called "J.T."

Now, the effort to collect donations for the victims has taken off.

Clothes, baby formula and even a car and temporary home have been donated to the Yoder family.

"They're great people, they deserve it, they didn't deserve this. They deserve something coming to them, some help, anything," said Mary Wilcox of Towanda who is helping to plan a benefit for the family.

A benefit dinner is planned for the Yoders on March 3 at a location yet to be determined. Donations are still being accepted at several locations throughout Bradford County.
