UNION DALE -- People were saving lives by hitting the powder in Susquehanna County.

Hundreds headed down the trails at Elk Mountain Sunday for a get together called Ski For Colin.

The event was organized in memory of Colin O'Rourke from Clifford. He took his own life last year.

Family and friends want to raise awareness of suicide prevention and honor Colin.

“He was a very happy, compassionate person who loved skiing and was always good to his friends and his family, very protective of them,” said Shauna O'Rourke.

Organizers raised nearly $10,000 for a group called, Save-A-Life Lackawanna County, which promotes suicide prevention and awareness.
