Rain, Wind, Power Outages

Wild weather whipped through the area early Friday and the winds and rain are causing some damage.

The wind brought down a tree in the Hanover Township area this morning.

The tree was hanging over Pine Run Road on some power lines.

Police were on the scene directing traffic.

Hundreds of homes and businesses in the Wilkes-Barre area were without power this morning.

Traffic lights were out at the intersection of Main and Carey Streets in Plains Township around 5 a.m. Friday.

According to the PPL website, nearly 3,500 were without electricity overnight.

The power has been restored to many of those homes and businesses.
