BERWICK -- People in Columbia County are proud that a holiday display has been around since the 1940's! Today folks made the final preparations for the 66th annual Berwick Christmas Boulevard.

From painting "Domenick the Donkey", to stringing Christmas lights, people in Columbia County spent the day getting ready for the Berwick Christmas Boulevard. Organizers said it is the longest running Christmas lights display of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

"We actually put on a mile stretch of lights and we get thousands of people per year. Just thousands upon thousands of people to come visit," said Vikki Dietterick.

The Berwick Christmas Boulevard is in its 66th year. It is put on by the Berwick Jaycees, a community organization. Various businesses and community groups turn Market Street in Berwick into a winter wonderland. One of those groups is the Berwick Police Department.

"It's called the Christmas Movie Challenge. We've got 17 different characters from 17 different movies, and you have to guess the movie by the character," said Sgt. Michael Monico.

The event is organized so people can drive down Market Street at night and check out all the Christmas lights. Norm Fedder helped set up one of the displays. He said three generations of his family have been involved in the Berwick Christmas Boulevard over the years.

"The tradition is to load the families, the kids, the dogs, everybody. Come through and talk to Santa, drop off a wish list and continue up the boulevard," said Fedder.

"It's Berwick. It's the Christmas Boulevard. It's been since I was a kid and since my parents were kids," said Monico.

The Berwick Christmas Boulevard runs from 6 until 10 every night starting Saturday, and it goes until New Years Day.
