Bethlehem, Pennsylvania may be known as the Christmas City, but a world-famous Easter candy also comes from this community in the Lehigh Valley.
Peeps are made in Bethlehem, and now the tiny marshmallow birds come in holiday flavors.
We asked some holiday shoppers to be our taste testers at The Mall at Steamtown in Scranton.
When you see those little marshmallow chicks, you can't help but think of springtime and Easter baskets.
But now, the makers of Peeps want you to think snow and stockings hung by the chimney with care.
Peeps are available in new flavors for the holidays: sugar cookie, candy cane, and gingerbread.
The candy cane flavored Peeps, dipped in dark chocolate, were a big hit!
Ashley Henriksen, 8, from Scranton, said, "I didn't think it was going to taste like candy cane but when I bit into it, it kind of surprised me because I didn't think it was going to taste like a candy cane."
Chester Godfrey of Scranton said, "It's actually really good... it's different. Peeps don't usually have chocolate on the bottom."
Three Peeps are in a serving. Calories range from 120 to 170, depending on the flavor.
You also get about 30 grams of sugar in a serving.
Speaking of... who can resist a sugar cookie flavored Peep dipped in milk chocolate? Not four-year-old Landyn Collard.
"It tastes yummy!" declared Collard.
Derek Haines of North Carolina said, "If somebody was like, 'Oh here this is in your stocking,' I would eat it."
The gingerbread Peeps got mixed reviews.
Tony Ramdial of Greeley said, "I'm not really feeling it. It's a little too sugary. It doesn't really have that much flavor. You can't taste the gingerbread."
But Dora Bergeron from Scranton said, "It's good, I like it... you can taste the cinnamon in it."
The new Peeps go for about $2.50 a package. We found them at Target.
