LIBERTY TOWNSHIP -- It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, especially at tree farms throughout the area.

At a Christmas tree farm in Montour County, we found that the holiday is big enough business that the owners decided to expand their store in a big way.

Just when customers thought Kohls Stony Hill Tree Farm near Milton could not get much bigger, it did. The Christmas shop had more than doubled in size.

Decorations from wall-to-wall make it a virtual symphony of Christmas tree ornaments.

It was Joan Baxter's first time at Kohls.

“I'm just overwhelmed, there's so much to look at. I'm having a tough time narrowing it down to just a few items,” said Baxter.

The new addition features everything "holiday" from the prehistoric, to the futuristic. Deb McGallicher of Bloomsburg had been going there for years and went home with a colorful "peacock" ornament.

“It's just hard to pick which one to get, that's my trouble. I remember where one thing is upstairs but I didn't want to pick it up and carry it because I might find something different,” said McHallicher.

No matter how big the store may get, the cash crop for Kohls Stony Hill Tree Farm near Milton comes from the trees. The owners said, depending on the height of the tree, they can get $50 for some of them, where they get $5 to $10 dollars for their ornaments.

“We have a lot more inventory for sure, hopefully it continues. We're just getting into the main part of the season,” said Stan Kohl, owner Kohls Stony Hill Tree Farm.

Whether customers go home with a tree, or with some ornaments, it's bound to get them in the mood for the holiday season.

“It really gets you into the spirit of Christmas, it does. I want to go home and start decorating,” said Baxter.
