WILKES-BARRE — A bomb squad was called into Luzerne County Saturday to safely detonate a device found on a residential road in Wilkes-Barre.
Police said they found what they thought was a pipe bomb on a tree lawn of Anthracite Street. Authorities described it as a half-inch PVC pipe around five inches long with two caps glued to the ends. A fuse was built into one of the ends.
The Scranton bomb squad arrived and safely destroyed the device using a bomb squad robot.
Police are investigating. Anyone with information can contact Wilkes-Barre Police.
