MILTON -- Investigators in Northumberland County believe the death of an 80-year-old woman is suspicious. They are calling the woman's son a "person of interest."

The coroner was called to a home along Park Lane in Milton around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The home was marked off with police tape.

Milton police and a state police crime team spent most of the day inside this house on Park Lane in Milton. Police say 80-year-old Vennie Boyles died inside this house, and they are calling her death suspicious.

"Vennie was a nice neighbor. A quiet neighbor," Mary Bailey said.

Police in Milton are looking for Vennie's son, Mark Boyles. They are calling the 55-year-old a person of interest. Neighbors say Mark lived with his mother, and they heard him yelling at her in the past.

"Carried on, cursed and swore. She apologized for him and I said I was scared for her. And she said don't worry about me," Betty Derr said.

"I'd lie if I say we weren't afraid of this. We were afraid something like this would happen...with his temper," Bailey said.

Neighbors tell Newswatch 16 they would frequently hear Mark Boyles fighting with his mother. Some say they have called the police on him in the past. All of the neighbors say they are afraid of Mark.

"You never know what he'd be doing. The way he'd move his cars around. Even during the night while we'd be sleeping, he'd be working on his cars. I was scared of him," Eleanor Bridge said.

"He just had a bad temper. We could hear him. He would work on cars at all hours of the night. He would be screaming and cursing," Bailey said.

Police say they found one of Boyles' vehicles, but they are still looking for him as a person of interest in his mother's death.

If you have any information you are asked to call the Milton Police Department at 570-742-8757.   An autopsy will be done tomorrow on Vennie Boyles.

Investigators have not yet said how the woman died.

So far no arrests have been made.
