SCRANTON -- A former secretary from the state labor department is going to prison for taking bribes.

James McDonnell from Scranton was sentenced Wednesday to serve between 18 and 36 months in prison.

Authorities say between 1999 and 2011, McDonnell and his wife Michelle received more than $80,000 in kickbacks.

Court papers show the man promised businesses he could reduce their workman's compensation insurance in exchange for cash.
