Motorcyclist Dies in Wreck

NESCOPECK TOWNSHIP -- A deadly motorcycle crash Monday killed one and backed up traffic for eight miles on Interstate 80 in Luzerne County.

The Luzerne County coroner said the driver of the motorcycle, Joseph Stabelmeyer, 59, from Rock City Falls, New York, was killed.

The crash happened on Interstate 80 westbound between the Conyngham/Nescopeck exit (256) and the Mainville/Mifflinville exit (242) at 2:30 p.m.

State police said no other vehicle but the motorcycle was involved in the wreck.

PennDOT said police were able to open both lanes of the highway by 4:30 p.m.
