STROUDSBURG -- Stroud Area Regional Police said early Friday morning four men broke into an apartment in the 500 block of Main Street in Stroudsburg, with guns, demanding money and a safe.

Once inside, police said the men pistol-whipped a man and then forced him and two women who were there in a bedroom while they searched the place.

"I would not expect that on Main Street at all, especially out in the open like that," said Alexis Poster of East Stroudsburg.

Just last week, police said there was another home invasion, this one in Stroud Township along rural Hallet Road. A homeowner in his 60's told police he was tied up as three men searched his home and stole money a gun and other property. Those men were wearing gloves and a mask.

"This has always been one of the most relaxing areas and as far as that is concerned, that is awful, awful, entirely awful to hear something like that," said Sherife Curtis of East Stroudsburg.

"It used to be a nice area to live in, getting bad anymore," said Donald Kresge of Stroudsburg.

Police investigators said the two home invasions are not connected. They said three of the men who got into the apartment Friday morning were wearing masks. The fourth had a hoodie pulled over his head.
