Natural, portable, and protein-packed... just a few reasons why nuts might just be the snack you've been craving.

So this week we're testing new Emerald Sweet and Salty Mixed Nut Blends in Cinnamon Sugar and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.

We found a couple of runners at Lake Scranton in Lackawanna County who like to re-fuel after a workout.

"An energy bar is usually what I go for. Maybe a protein shake," said Andrew Dunn of Scranton.

But he wasn't impressed with the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter mixed nuts.

"They didn't have a whole lot of taste to them. Overall I thought it was pretty bland," said Dunn.

But he was in the minority.

We had no trouble finding people who really liked the nuts with a peanut butter flavor and cocoa roasted almonds.

"I think they're actually pretty good," said David Kimble of Clarks Summit. "They're clean. You don't have to get messy while you're eating. I'll probably enjoy these after a nice long run."

"They have like a cinnamon flavor. And I like nuts a lot so this is really good," said Vincent Ocasio of Mount Pocono.

A serving is about a quarter of a cup, and has 150 calories, 11 grams of fat, about six grams of sugar and four grams of protein.

We found testers who liked the Cinnamon Sugar flavor, too!

Molly Lepri of Scranton said, "It's good, you can taste it, the salty and the cinnamon."

Amy Costanzo of Dunmore said, "I think my kids would like them, too... Everything's a little better with sugar!"

Emerald Mixed Nut Blends go for $5.99 a container at Gerrity's.
