STROUDSBURG -- Stroud Area Regional and Pocono Mountain Regional police are investigating whether there's a connection among three armed robberies.

All the robberies took place before 5:30 a.m. Monday.

Police believe it all started at Joe's Kwik Mart along Route 940 near Mount Pocono.

According to Pocono Mountain Regional Police, a man went into the Kwik Mart around 5:30 a.m. and pointed a BB gun at the clerk.

The man then demanded money to "pay bills."

Police said when the clerk refused to open the register, the man took off without any cash.

Then a half hour later another attempted hold-up took place at Perkins restaurant on West Main Street in Stroudsburg. Stroud Area Regional police said two men with guns went into the restaurant. One man jumped the counter and had the clerk open the cash register. The second ordered witnesses to the floor at gunpoint.

Cash was stolen and both robbers got into a jeep and headed toward Interstate 80.

About 25 minutes later, police were called to the Hess Gas Station on North Ninth Street in Stroudsburg.

Police said a man with a shotgun demanded money from another man at the business. The victim emptied his pockets and the robber ran away.

Stroud Area Regional Police believe that robber is the same person who robbed Perkins just minutes before.

Police said they believe the attempted robbery at Joe's Kwik-Mart is also connected.

Police say they have found a stolen vehicle that they believe was used in at least one of the crimes.
