BARRETT TOWNSHIP — The FAA is investigating a wreck after a small plane crashed in Monroe County on Friday.

Authorities said around noon a single engine plane from New Jersey was flying near the Skytop Lodge in Barrett Township when it experienced engine trouble.

Air traffic control guided the plane toward the nearest airport, the “Flying Dollar Airport” in Candensis.

Police said the plane ran out of room on the runway, and ended up flipping over a 20 foot embankment.

The pilot and his wife were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
