WILKES-BARRE -- Police are looking for a gunman after a hold-up at movie theater in Luzerne County.

A ticket clerk carrying the night deposit at Movies 14 Theater along East Northampton Street was held up around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Officers said the man flashed a small silver gun and took off with the cash.

The clerk was not hurt.

Police say the man, believed to be in his 30's, robbed the clerk at the theater late Sunday night, got away with a deposit bag, and ran out the front entrance onto East Northampton Street.

Marlene Mangan brought her 9-year-old daughter to see a matinée, and says crimes such as this won't stop her from coming to the theater.

"It`s concerning I know the police are investigating it and will handle it but I will still be coming to the movies. We still feel safe," said Mangan.

According to movie theater employees, police only patrol the theater on Friday and Saturday nights.  An employee says Sunday night wasn't that crowded, and the robber probably didn't get a lot of cash.

Several employees who work at Movies 14 say this is the first time anything like this has ever happened since the theater opened up back in 2005.

"Years ago you didn`t have all this nonsense people are just getting very angry. For why I don`t know but there are very angry people," said Mary Claire Kozlowich of Wilkes-Barre.

Wilkes-Barre police released a surveillance photo that they believe shows the robber.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Wilkes-Barre at 570-208-4207.
