For the next few months, Toyota is giving away 100 cars to different non-profit organizations across the country in an online giveaway contest.
More than 4,000 applicants have been picked to compete, and only one is in northeastern Pennsylvania.
That group is the Indraloka Animal Sanctuary in Wyoming County.
It is a bit of a rare sight to see. Twelve-hundred pound pigs being playful, taking snacks, and laying down for a good belly rubbing. Not what you would think about these enormous animals, but playful and joyful they were.
The two were rescued from being slaughtered for meat and brought to the Indraloka Animal Sanctuary in Mehoopany.
"We founded this sanctuary as a place that other rescue groups could turn to if animals were unadoptable and they have no choice but to euthanize them," says Indra Lahiri, Founder of the Indraloka Animal Sanctuary.
The sanctuary is home to 150 animals, not just pigs. They have horses and goats, chickens and cows, all rescued from all over the country, even Mexico.
"The love, the unconditional love that you get from them because of the little that you give to them, you get so much back," said volunteer, Debbie Bednar.
The sanctuary helps animals for the rest of their lives, and now the sanctuary needs your help.
For the next 100 days, Toyota is giving away one car a day to a worthy non-profit organization. Out of 4,000 applicants, Indraloka was picked as a nominee and it is in need of a brand new truck.
"The one we have doesn't start, it needs a lot of repairs, and we just haven't had the funding to put it back together again. We really need something reliable and safe for the animals," said Lahiri.
She added the new truck would be used to transport hundreds of pounds of food per week for the animals, but most importantly, to transport animals that need to be rescued.
"Every single one of these animals is just like us. They have feelings, they can love, and do love. They can experience joy and they can experience pain," said Lahiri.
