Jury selection began Monday in the homicide trial of a man accused of killing a police officer.
George Hitcho Junior is charged with killing Robert Lasso of the Freemansburg Police Department
According to state police, Lasso, of Freemansburg, was shot in killed while responding to a disturbance at Hitcho’s home in Northampton county.
Authorities said when Lasso pulled out a stun gun to ward off two aggressive dogs, Hitcho shot him.
Jury selection could last through the week.
Prosecutors in Northampton County said they will seek the death penalty if Hitcho is convicted.
