Traffic restrictions are in place on a busy bridge in the Wyoming Valley and they are likely to stay that way for the next two years.
Construction began Thursday on a huge rehabilitation project for the Pierce Street Bridge between Wilkes-Barre and Kingston over the Susquehanna River. Locals call it the Pierce Street Bridge but its proper name is Veterans Memorial Bridge.
While workers rebuild the deck of the bridge traffic will be down from four lanes to two lanes.
Completion of the entire $6 million project is anticipated in May, 2014.
