The Wilkes-Barre police officer who shot a home invasion suspect early Monday will be allowed to go back to work.
State police and the Luzerne County district attorney’s office ruled Wednesday the shooting was justified.
The suspect, James Rankin of western Pennsylvania is accused of robbing and assaulting a couple early Monday inside their home on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Investigators said officers chased him, stopped him and then one officer shot Rankin when he appeared to reach for a weapon.
